The Indonesian Urban Transport Institute (IUTRI) is an independent research agency established to confront many challenges faced by our nation today. It is expected to provide recommendations and alternatives for nation’s urban transport policies and promoting a sustainable, equitable and human oriented urban transport systems through specialized researches and studies. Originally, most member of IUTRI are researchers at Center for Transport Studies-University of Indonesia (CTS-UI). When joining CTS-UI they have been involved in various transport and traffic research and study projects. Since 2006, they still work together at UTRG (Urban Transport Research Group), a non formal institution for several research/study project. In 2012, some of the members innitiated an establishment a more formal institution for their research acivities, and in March 2014 IUTRI is officially founded. The institute will place emphasis on;
- Providing policy-making assistance (guidelines, public hearings, seminars, training, etc)
- Building an active and organic research and organizational system
- Pursuing a knowledge sharing program
- Strengthening research capability
- Reinforcing all relevant stakeholders to solve transportation problem
- Developing and promoting cooperation with all relevant organization
- Fasilititating communication and dissemination on transportation issues and problems.
